The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is very nice, but it can be like Cades Cove.
It seems to be less well known compared to Cades Cove though.
It's off of Airport Road.

Default 200 mile day of joy :)

Here is a nice "under 200 miles" day with options:

Take 441 out of Gatlinburg, over the mountain and onto the BRP before you get to Cherokee head up the BRP (take extra clothes it will get chilly) and then, depending on what you like, you can get off at US19 and head into Maggie Valley and the Wheels Through Time museum, OR continue on the BRP to US74 and exit there.

In either case, head to Lake Junalaska and pick up RT 209 north to Hot Springs (you can rent a honeymoon hot tub there!)

Then, you can semi-slab it west to Newport and then south back to Gatlinburg. That southern section of the BRP is my absolute favorite! And, 209 is a fun, scenic ride. You really can't go wrong, however, if you head into the mountains around there.

Good luck and have fun!!

Just stay in the mountains.

As long as you avoid the valleys you cant go wrong. Try to hit as many roads that go directly across the mountains because they are always the best, but the ones that follow the mountains are good also, and usually provide the best views.

The temps are noticeably cooler too. Much more comfortable.

I'm not sure that qualifies as a zing. Truth is, its probably just good advice.

Default Gatlinburg Rides

Congratulations! My wife and I are going that way mid-May and the riding is great once you get out of town. Check out America Rides maps. Wayne Busch has put together maps of the best roads so you don't waste precious riding time trying to find them, www.americaridesmaps.com .
Enjoy,
